The "Jeune danseur" category (young dancer) is at the perfect age to be able to understand certain mechanics that are required by classical dance. Several notions, too subtle to be approached at an earlier age, will then be able to be explained and understood so as to move to a totally new level of dance lesson. What pleasure it is to exercise oneself at the nobility of the proper bearing of the body, at the learning of genuine ballet step, new ports de bras (The technique and practice of arm movement in ballet : Merriam Webster online dictionary) or learning precise choreographic instructions. What even greater pleasure it is when we add the development of the artistic and theatric side which allows a child to express himself and discover his own personality.
I understand ... is a proof of growing into maturity. The child, still young, in his prime of life and can still admit the subject of dance without inhibition. Exposed to traditional notions within a climate of encouragement and tenderness, he will retain from that education benefits he's not ready to forget. He will gain in physical strength, grace of movement, assurance as a person and can thus discover his artistic talents. Though this program has a classical ballet orientation, the basis that is taught constitute the best training there is to form the body and the mind of the future dancer, no matter what dance style he is aiming at.
Each and every course program comprises between twenty and thirty exercises, including the work at the barre, the ports de bras, preparation to adagios and turns, small jumps and certain weight transfer moves. Added to that are exercises for rhythm, concentration, stage presence, theatric expression and choreographic training. A year is composed of two main youth programs and the entire 3 years lineup will teach 6 of them. Also available soon : a pilot project is in the wings aiming at putting in place an examination formula that will assure truly personalized and satisfactory training.

As a complement to the technical class is added the tap dance experience which bring joy and motivation. The child who starts tap dance at a young age will come to master the sounds and quick reaction time as a second nature. It's all about fast, precise feet. Moreover, the child learns to hear sounds due to the aural feedback that comes with tap and so gains in increased self awareness as a dancer while staying synchronized with the rest of the group : the "one big great foot" effect. That aspect of dance, which gradually develops as the child accumulates years of experience will permit him to achieve more and more dazzled performances later on, just as much for himself than for the public watching him. Note that this tap dance class is designed for students registered in the technical course described higher on this page or for the first year Relève category students, but, it can also welcome children who which to choose tap as the only dance style. Afterwards : a trial class will be charged 5,00 $ no matter what the class, style or level you are trying. Then, if you register, that amount is deducted from the total cost of the tuition. Note that this is different than classes sold through our card system for the Releve levels.
NOTE : Taxes and administrative fees are included in the prices displayed on the site. There is no change of price in the event of a late registration, no matter what the reason is. However, for new clients, an 8,00 $ credit can be applied for every class the person has missed due to the late registration. This credit is applied at the following session. Be advised that this does not apply to absences during the session.
