Dance calls for several aptitudes which can all be devolved within the child by an adequately structured program designed to serve the requirements of theatrical dance (as in used to create stage productions) such as classical, modern and jazz dance. Once developed, these aptitudes become real assets for the school age child : a better spatial orientation including the differentiation of the right side as well as the left side, a much improved physical awareness that is quite useful in small as in long movements, an increase of memory brought about by remembering the succession of exercises and the various choreographic sequences, the increased knowledge gained by the learning of the various dance technical notions and understanding its nomenclature.
I enter . . . is what will make the difference between one that merely watches dance and someone who lives it to its full extent. The child will experience the pleasure of learning something that will not only be useful to the art of dance, but that will be just as much useful to himself too. The grasped notions will then be able to integrate in a whole and that will lead to a continual improvement in the performance and assurance of the child.
The course program comprehend an integration of the barre exercises leading to classical dance, center exercises and floor exercises aiming at developing muscular strenght, suppleness and progressive endurance, in addition to complementary exercises that will complete the basic notions essential to any type of dance.

Dance study is reserved to the people who love dance ! Factually, who would want to know more about a subject than the person to whom it is a pleasure to learn it. The primary grade student who loves dance and music is at the age of being able to receive a greater baggage of information than before and he is more able to participate at physical exercises with more ease and less effort.
I work ... confirms that everything is possible when one really wants it. All that is needed is the action of moving forward one step at the time while putting one's whole attention to it. The joy and will of doing good work in the dance class will take place automatically if the thirst of knowing is quenched by a dance teaching that is right and which corresponds to the proper level of assimilation of the child. On one hand, the child must be able to progress within the strictness of the techniques of a dance class and on the other he must be allowed to conserve the liveliness and childishness that is proper to his age.
Our programs are able to make the logical allowances : they insist just as much on the precision of the exercises being executed at the barre and on the benefits of muscular training, the flexibility, balanced, the ability to hear and count music and the learning of simple steps than on the pure joy of dancing when you are happy ! We always make sure that a sane and cheerful atmosphere is permitting every one to blossom and stay himself.

As a complement to the technical class is added the tap dance experience which bring joy and motivation. The child who starts tap dance at a young age will come to master the sounds and quick reaction time as a second nature. It's all about fast, precise feet. Moreover, the child learns to hear sounds due to the aural feedback that comes with tap and so gains in increased self awareness as a dancer while staying synchronized with the rest of the group : the "one big great foot" effect. That aspect of dance, which gradually develops as the child accumulates years of experience will permit him to achieve more and more dazzled performances later on, just as much for himself than for the public watching him. Note that this tap dance class is designed for students registered in the technical course described higher on this page or for the first year Relève category students, but, it can also welcome children who which to choose tap as the only dance style. More information is available on tap dace on the Relève Danseur category page.
